Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Team Fortress 2
  • Fixed a client crash related to arrows
  • Fixed a server crash related to items
  • Fixed a server crash caused by the Demo taunt kill
  • Fixed a server crash caused by using the Equalizer
  • Fixed client ragdoll commands resulting in ragdolls standing around
  • Restored the missing point_teleport entity
  • Fixed stats and achievements being tracked while using sv_cheats
  • Fixed Spies being able to build dispensers
  • Fixed clients not fixing up inventory items in bad backpack positions
  • Added a new chat message when players craft an item
  • Fixed "Bloody Merry" and "Second Eye" achievements being achieved incorrectly
  • Updated the description of the "Bravehurt" achievement
  • Fixed Blutsauger attributes
  • Fixed the Direct Hit having an incorrect short range damage curve (now matches the normal Rocket Launcher curve)
  • Fixed the Spy's unlockables watches using the wrong consume/recharge rates

  • Reduced Dedicated Server max search ping to 150 ms
  • Teams that prefer listen servers will no longer be matched with teams that prefer dedicated servers
  • Official dedicated servers are now preferred when searching for team matches
  • More populous lobbies are now preferred over less populous ones when searching for games
  • Players who crash or have failed to load are no longer banned if they have been kicked
  • Update Russian subtitles
  • Fixed not being able to interlink teams in team-on-team mode
  • Fixed not being able to properly migrate team lobby after team leader would leave the lobby

The Class 20 Diesel Locomotive RailWorks Add-on & Class 390 Electric Multiple Unit RailWorks Add-on are now available on Steam.

The BR Standard Type 1 Class 20 locomotive was built as a direct result of the Modernisation programme introduced in 1957. It is one of the most robust and reliable diesel-electric fleets ever built.

The Class 390 is currently one of the fastest electric multiple units operating in Britain. The set can reach 140 mph, whilst featuring tilting train technology to allow higher speeds around bends.

Updates to Order of War have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Gameplay changes
  • 2 new maps "Proving Grounds" and "Massive Assault"
  • Some improvements in AI behavior were added for Multiplayer
  • New rules for capturing Control Points (CP) in Multiplayer battles are introduced. CP starts growing white (neutral) once enemy units enter its range regardless of whether player's troops are (or are not) within it
  • Supply routes of reinforcements are displayed on the map
  • Spawn area (SA) is displayed on minimap in the form a blinking icon when a CP is captured. When a player buys reinforcements the game highlights the SA they are coming from
  • Multiplayer maps tuned. Some objects were removed, Control Points shifted, passable/non-passable zones balanced.
  • Fire Range displayed when new units are purchased or "move" - order is issued

Features
  • Leaderboard option that provides full statistics on players' games, achievements, ranks and positions in overall rating was added to Multiplayer
  • Smart automatch feature introduced. The system utilizes Tactical Skill parameter of players to select the most appropriate opponent
  • Added support for NVidia 3D stereo (the game can be played well with NVidia Stereo glasses, which is cool feature for personal presentations and PC geeks)

Improvements
  • New achievements for multiplayer added
  • All occupied players and games that are in progress are highlighted with special color in Game Lobby
  • "Surrender" button was added to the in-game menu instead of "Exit Mission" one
  • CSAA option added to graphical settings menu that provides better anti-aliasing performance (NVidia cards only)
  • Small visual effects improvements added
  • User-friendly mechanism of creating passworded games was introduced

Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Team Fortress 2

New Content
  • Added new control point map Gorge
  • Added new capture the flag map Double Cross
  • Added item crafting
  • Added work-in-progress TF Bots for beta testing in KOTH maps (blog post coming with more info)
  • Added headshot death animations
  • Added more backstab animations

Soldier
  • Added 35 new Soldier achievements
  • Added 4 new Soldier items

Demoman

Spy

Minor changes
  • Added new options to the Multiplayer->Advanced dialog:
    • Combat text, which displays damage amounts you do to enemies.
    • Medic auto caller, which automatically shows you nearby friends at low health.
    • Heal target marker, which better highlights the target your medigun is locked onto.
    • Alternative Spy disguise menu, which lets you choose disguises using just the 1-3 keys.
  • Fixed being able to affect friendly pipes with airblast (they would unstick)
  • Added recharge sound to abilities with a recharge bar
  • Fixed attachable wearables not staying on ragdolls
  • Players no longer see the wearables that are a part of a friendly spy's disguise, fixing various graphical glitches
  • Added jiggle bones for Pyro's chicken hat
  • Added 2 new game startup songs

Community Mapmaker requests
  • Implemented InputSetSetupTime() for team_round_timer (was in the .fgd but never implemented)
  • Added "SetDispenserLevel" input to cart dispenser (1, 2, or 3)

...the Soldier!







Sorry, Demomen. You fought the good fight and kept it far closer than anybody could have predicted. But in the end, at the noon Thursday deadline, the Soldiers kept their razor-thin lead, with 6,406,065 killed Demomen to the Demo's score of 6,372,979 killed Sollys.



What a week it's been. We're really big fans of both the police and the fire department, so it's been a real treat for us, as they've been here pretty much non-stop since last Thursday. There were the arguments between Demo and Soldier-supporting staffers; that unexplained knifing in the elevator; Drew Wolf; and a host of other calamities that resulted from the creation of this massive update. At one point we even saw a police officer and a fireman in a fist fight over who was more mad at us.



Anyway, it was all worth it to give you this update. Which is now live. Enjoy.

Victory on the Internet Day has been declared! The war is over! Who won? We don't know! Yet!



Luckily, I, Robin Walker, was up all night building a kill-calculating machine for just such an eventuality. We turned it on, the building filled with smoke, and right now a fireman is yelling at me to leave the building with everyone else. I'll leave when they pry this tiny netbook out of my cold dead hands. Or when an angry fireman fireman-carries me out of the office, which is what is happening right now. Anyway, once all the firemen calm down, we'll announce the War results with today's huge update. To pass the time, go get yourself a fresh mouse and start reloading this page as fast as you possibly can.




Please note: Beginning now, we're going to start transitioning the new inventory system into the game. Until the update goes live later today, you will not have access to your inventory.

It all comes down to this. I'd give you a motivational speech right now, but the time you wasted reading it would be less time you spent making a difference on the battlefield. Go ahead and break the bad news to your grandfather: YOU are officially now the greatest generation.

It's Close: 5,727,928 Soldiers, 5,742,720 Demos [16 Dec 2009|10:59pm]

Adding in the points awarded to our recent Propaganda Contest winners—60,000 frags added to the Killed Demomen score and 25,000 added to the Killed Soldier score—the war currently stands neck-and-neck at 5,727,928 Killed Soldiers to 5,742,720 Killed Demos. We need to stress to you that we have not gamed these numbers in any way: After a solid week of gut-grinding combat and an astonishing 11,470,648 total kills, the Demomen and Soldiers are separated by a mere 14,792 points.



When we first hashed out the idea of a Soldier/Demo War, some of us were worried about the very real possibility of an embarrassing one-sided blowout. The fact that we're now just one day away from the war's end and it's still anybody's game is genuinely cool.



In Update news, how about some weapon reveals? Don't spend too much time discussing them in the forums, though. This war is ALMOST OVER, and your class needs you.
